Costumes inspired by the 1990s New York Club Kids
Final pieces for my Tailoring module at University, inspired by the book “Party Monster: a Fabulous but True Tale of Murder in Clubland” by James St James. The bespoke, tailored suit was inspired by werewolves in media, using rooster feathers between every seam. Hair, shoes and makeup were inspired by American fashions in the 1920s. The 1950s wedding dress was sourced second hand and altered, then beaded with handprints and scratches made to look like dripping blood. The scratches represent an injury caused by the werewolf and the suit back has a vent that opens revealing beaded “flesh” to mirror this.
